Despite the girls-gone-wild image of promiscuous college women, it is women in their middle years who are America's most sexually industrious. Why is this?
As someone who usually ends up dating younger men it was really that I meet very few men my age or older that I had a mutual attraction to and was available. That last bit being the key point there.
I'm not saying it didn't happen, it is just that there were far more single younger guys than single older guys that would ask me out or 'come on' to me. I chose not to make age high on my list of reasons for dating someone, so therefore the probability was always going to be that they were younger.
After my divorce I admit I wanted to just have some fun and wanted some great sex! I was a little wild, well I'm still a little wild I admit I have had some great sex, better than I ever did married, but it's just sex not love most of the time. At some point I'll want to settle down but right now it's just nature making me horny and there is only so much my dildo can do for me!
As women decline in fertility, their sex drive gets a supercharge in order to maximize their remaining baby-making chances... Women in the low-fertility group (ages 27-45) were much more likely to report having more sex, wanting more sex, and having more (and more intense) sexual fantasies. If you're trying to maximize your remaining fertility, it makes sense to seek out a younger partner because his sperm is healthier.
Women ages 27 through 45 report not only having more sexual fantasies (and more intense sexual fantasies) than women ages 18 through 26 but also having more sex, period. And they are more willing than younger women to have casual sex, even one-night stands.
Our female ancestors grew accustomed to watching many of their children —perhaps as many as half — die of various diseases, starvation, warfare and so on before being able to have kids of their own. This trauma left a psychological imprint to bear as many children as possible. Becoming pregnant is much easier for women and girls in their teens and early 20s — so much easier that they need not spend much time having sex.
Summing it all up, it boils down to sex and reproduction. The reason provided certainly provides a compelling argument that older women really do want more sex.
